Do your gutters actually need replacing? Or something a lot cheaper?
Every gutter problem is one of four things: a cleaning, a repair, new gutters, or the right guard. Answer a few questions and we'll tell you which way the evidence points, with honest price ranges for your area. We don't install gutters, so we don't care which answer it is.

We're not a gutter company. We don't hang gutters and we don't send crews. This site is a decision tool: it weighs your symptoms, your trees, and your gutters' age, then tells you which of the four answers fits your house. Sometimes that answer is a $167 cleaning. A company that sells installs can't say that out loud. We can.
This started with our own gutters. We're homeowners like you, same kind of streets, same kind of trees, and one fall the question landed on us: is this a cleaning, or are we buying new gutters?
Trying to get a straight answer was the worst part. Nobody would name a number without sending a salesman to the kitchen table first, and the numbers that did come were thousands of dollars apart for the same house. One quote dropped by half the moment we hesitated, which told us everything about what the first price was. The forums split fifty fifty on every question we asked. And while we sat there stuck, every hard rain kept pouring over the edge and soaking in next to the foundation. That's the trap: not knowing feels safe, but it's the one option that's guaranteed to get more expensive.
We happen to build software for a living, so we stopped asking and started digging. We pulled the published rates, read hundreds of homeowners' stories, learned which guards fail under which trees, and turned all of it into a calculator that answered the question for our own houses. It worked. The quotes we got afterward finally made sense, because we knew what a fair one looked like before anyone said a word.
After that, keeping it to ourselves felt silly. The research was done and the tool was built, so here it is, free, for the next homeowner standing in the driveway looking up at the same question we had. Answer a few questions and get your verdict with an honest price range. Takes about a minute, and you shouldn't have to do the homework twice.
An inch of rain on a modest roof is well over a thousand gallons of water. Your gutters have exactly one job: catching all of it and putting it down somewhere safe. When they're working, you never think about them. When they stop, every one of those gallons lands right beside your foundation instead. That's the whole story of why gutters matter, and why a failing one is worth diagnosing before it gets expensive.
What failing gutters actually cost
Water pours over the edge when it rains hard.
That's a symptom with three possible causes, and two of them are cheap. The expensive part isn't the waterfall, it's where the water lands. Season after season next to the foundation, and you're on the road to a wet basement. Cleanup for one of those runs $1,600 to $6,900. The diagnosis takes a minute.
They sag, drip at the seams, or pull away from the house.
Gutters fail quietly, into the wood behind them. A slow drip behind a gutter is how a fascia board rots without anyone noticing. Caught early, that's a repair visit measured in hundreds. Ignored, the rot spreads and the fix grows with it.
They came with the house, and the house is 25 years old.
Aluminum gutters last 20 to 30 years. Past that, seams and pitch tend to give up together, and money spent patching is usually money you'll spend again. That's the point where replacing honestly beats repairing, and new seamless gutters run around $2,800 to $5,200 for most houses.
Nothing's broken. I'm just done cleaning them.
Then your question is gutter guards, and the honest answer depends on your trees, not the brand. Pine needles beat most mesh. Heavy rain beats the hood style. And a house with no trees barely needs guards at all. The verdict tool does that math for your actual house.
How this works
- You answer a few questions about your house, your trees, and what the gutters are doing. Address or ZIP first, so the prices fit your area.
- You get your verdict on the screen, in plain English, with the honest price range next to it. One of four answers: cleaning, repair, new gutters, or the right guard.
- You decide what happens next. Ask for a real quote, email the report to yourself, or just close the tab.
What we won't do
- We won't make you call anyone to see your results.
- We won't quote you a price that expires tomorrow. Our ranges don't have deadlines.
- We won't hide your verdict behind a form. It shows either way.
- We won't tell you your gutters are dying just to scare you. If a cleaning covers it, the verdict says so.
